Tyrese Reportedly Joins Cast of ‘Spider-Man’ Spinoff ‘Morbius’

Tyrese Gibson is reportedly joining Jared Leto in the forthcoming Spider-Man spinoff film, Morbius, as per the Hollywood Reporter.

Made by Sony, Morbius will be based on the antagonist of a similar name. Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, and Jared Harris are reportedly starring in the project as well, and Daniel Espinosa of Safe House will direct the film. Jared Leto, who’s set tripping from DC to Marvel, took to Instagram to share his fervor for the up and coming undertaking. He at that point posted a mystery photo from the set on Twitter, expressing “1 week down…11 to go.”

The title character was made in 1971 for The Amazing Spider-Man #101. Dr. Michael Morbius’ character is a researcher who has a blood ailment, which he tried to cure. During his experiment, he began experiencing vampire-like symptoms including his trademark fangs, a hunger for blood, and superhuman strength.

While Leto is set to play Morbius, Tyrese is reportedly playing an FBI specialist hunting down the main character. Matt Smith, of Netflix’s The Crown, will play the film’s villain, Loxias Crown, with Arjona playing Morbius’ love interest, and Harris, who also stars in The Crown, will play his mentor.

The film, which started production last week, is slated to hit theaters on July 31, 2020.
