Every time Taylor Swift is set to return with new music there is some controversy. Last album roll-out she tussled with KimYe, this time she has copied Beyoncé’s iconic Coachella performance.
Last night (May 2) at the Billboard Music Awards, Taylor Swift kicked off the night with a performance of her new single “ME!,” fans online were quick to point out that it mirrored Queen BEy’s Coachella performance. Swift had a full marching band, similar colors, back up dancers and more that lead Twitter users to believe that she may have watched the Netflix documentary one too many times, even dubbing the effort #Mayochella.
Taylor you can’t compete where you don’t compare. Stop the madness! #Mayochella #Beychella pic.twitter.com/4ZIdd894By

There were a few pockets of Twitter that would defend Taylor Swift:
Drums and colorful suits are not exclusively from Beyoncé

However, the decision to pull out such a similar performance this soon is still a questionable decision. Was this a mistake from Taylor Swift, a well-played troll or just a coincidence?
