Eli Manning appears to be getting something of a farewell tour on the last leg of the NFL season. After suffering a high ankle sprain last week, Daniel Jones will be sidelined for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles with Eli Manning stepping back into the starting spot.
Coach Pat Shurmur told reporters that Manning is “very likely” to start on Monday night as the Giants look to end an 8-game losing streak. Jones played through his sprained ankle against the Packers on Sunday, but was reportedly in a walking boot during practice and will not be available come Monday night.
According to ESPN, Jones’ injury is similar to the one Giants Running Back Saquon Barkley had earlier in the season that kept him out for a few weeks. If so, that would mean the future Hall of Famer could finish out the season for Big Blue.
Eli was benched after the first two weeks of the season and hasn’t touched the field since September.
