Shams Charania broke the news on Twitter. “Kobe Bryant will be a first-ballot enshrinement into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2020,” he tweeted. “Expected to be arguably the most epic class ever with Kobe, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett,” HOF chairman Jerry Colangelo says. “Kobe will be honored the way he should be.”

Kobe Bryant was nominated for the 2020 class in December. He was nominated alongside Muggsy Bogues, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Tim Hardaway.

In honor of Bryant’s untimely, tragic death the traditional voting process will be bypassed and he’s going straight to the Hall of Fame.

The other inductees would be announced in April.
