A now-viral leaked clip of former Vine star BigNik directing multiple racial slurs towards AYO SK3TCH has prompted his response, the aptly titled “#FREESK3TCH”. In a departure from his usually upbeat brand of music, the song features AYO SK3TCH spitting bars over a dark, menacing beat produced by AceTheFace, most known for his work with Shoreline Mafia including their breakout hit “Bands.” The West Coast influence is apparent in the beat, which complements SK3TCH’s message that he will continue to persevere even in the face of adversity.

In the song, SK3TCH refers repeatedly to his upbringing in the Boston, MA borough of Mattapan, which he contrasts with the “real safe” childhood of those who “never had to watch [their] back.” It is this childhood which SK3TCH believes that the ignorance from which BigNik’s racist views stem from. In the corresponding music video, directed by Jonny Mats, SK3TCH reaffirms his view that he doesn’t “need clout” and instead will focus on what he always has: “getting racks” and figuring out how to make it in the challenging music industry.
