News just broke about the sentencing of convicted rapist, Harvey Weinstein. A judge has hit the movie mogul with 23 years in a New York State prison on Wednesday, March 11. The Supreme Court judge James Burke also sentenced him to five years of probation for the various sex crimes he was found guilty of last month.
Last month, Feb. 24, Weinstein was convicted of committing a Criminal Sexual Act in the first degree and third-degree rape.
The handing down on this hefty penalty is a big blow as Weinstein is 67, and should he serve all 23 years will be leaving as a nonagenarian. Thus, according to The Hollywood Reporter, his team has vowed to appeal the jury’s decisions — maintaining his innocence.
Judge Burke also informed him that he will now be registered as sex offender. According to CNN, he still is facing four more counts of sexual assault, rape, and inappropriateness in Los Angeles.
