Texas’ Davis Chris Leads The Way With His Own New Sound

Artists going solo is an age-old tale in Hip Hop. It’s a right of passage or evolution that every artist endures once in their career to become fully successful. Today’s lone star’s transition is no different.

Spending years establishing a successful music production career, apart of a well-oiled machine. Texas’ own Davis Chris of the accomplished DFD Music has trailblazed his own path to greatness in recent years which is quickly becoming recognized and praised by everyone in music. Right now, the military veteran-turned-producer is riding high with the popularity of his new song, titled, “Realest in the Room” featuring Duke Deuce, Litty Lex and AceVance. And with the popularity, both fans and insiders are extremely curious about who is Davis Chris?

“I’m originally from the greatest city on earth,” Chris says. “We ride slabs with candy paint, sip from double cups, and chop and screw our music. This wonderful place is Houston, Texas. I was introduced to Hip-Hop by watching YouTube clips of Charlie Clips, Murda Mook, and Reed Dollaz. I knew of other artists and other songs but watching those guys freestyle really got me interested in music. I was mesmerized at how they could command an audience with just words.”

Coming from a southern background, you would expect the new recording artist to produce a similar trunk-rattling, slowed-down, choppy bass-driven sound. While Chris is from Texas, the sound we hear from the new sensation is originated by legendary Virginia superproducer, Timberland.
Chris remembers, “Timbaland taught me how to create unique sounds and how important percussive rhythm is in a track. Tim always has cool little unique things in his tracks that make them stand out. I’m constantly looking for little small ways to keep listeners interested.”

When it comes to music, Davis sound has always exhibited a strict work ethic, discipline and conduct. A militant-minded persona he credits to his time in the Navy. Making music while serving, Chris combined the two worlds and resulted in abilities that differentiate himself from other emerging producers.

“I remember being on a 7-month deployment working 18 hour days in the Navy after a long tough day up on the flight deck I would still have energy and excitement to make music and explore. I knew that if I carried that same passion for music once I got out of the military I would be alright. If there was one thing I feel makes me a bit different is my ability to get things done. I’m bout it, bout it, don’t ever doubt it.”

The success with DFD Music and his recent solo run has created several lucrative opportunities for Davis Chris. In 2020-2021, along with DFD Music, he has signed an independent deal with the hugely popular EMPIRE distribution. In the new deal, Chris has the connections and desires to work with the biggest names in music.

“I would like to work with Drake, Rihanna, and Lil Wayne. I wanna hit the studio, laugh, have a dope conversation about life, and then cook up a smash that will shatter glass then collect and count cash.”

It’s all about making classics. Like every recording artist, Davis Chris desires to make music that will stand the test of time. Music that will be discussed, debated, argued and enjoyed forever. And with a new album out now, he explains: “I want to make music that can accompany people’s everyday life in various ways. I want to have music that can fit different moods and work in different environments. Playlist these days are theme-based and as a vibe curator, I understand that completely now. I wanna make music for when you want to dance, relax, workout, sing, etc.”
