The Pandemic has made the world focus on eating better and taking care of our bodies in hopes of living healthier lives. In light of this, physical fitness experts, Shyan Lovell (Shy) and Plemmie Lawson (Plem) are taking advantage of the opportunity to shine the spotlight on their platform centered on physical training and the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. Although they both have diverse backgrounds, they came together under one umbrella – The Level Up2 Management Company.
Plem has a Master Degree in Hospitality and a Project Manager Certification from NYU. In 2013 he broke away from Corporate America when he decided to channel his energy into consulting. All of the eclectic skills that he learned along the way allowed him the opportunity to consult for restaurants, hotels and bars for the past 20 years. “The gym is just an extension of hospitality infused with fitness.” Plem proclaims. “I have a passion for fitness. It was an easy segues for me to take those same skills and align it with a workout acumen that reflected my passion for staying fit. Now I run gyms. As the General Manager and part owner of the UFC of Fort Lee and Orange, NJ – my management company oversees several gyms.” As an AMT and Master Trainer, Plem has his sights on global ventures.
His counterpart, the social media icon, Shy is making her mark as well in the fitness world. As an assistant general manager of UFC of Fort Lee and partner in the Level Up2 Company, she has managed to carve out time between her 9-5 job as a PA (Physician Assistant in an Internal Medicine) and training clients. She treats patients suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and Covid-19 and more. Shy states, “It’s an interesting dynamic because a lot of those issues are dealing with obesity. I love training because I am able to help our generation now so they don’t have to be the patients that I see later.” She made a lane for herself by incorporating her own business – Body By Shy. It is an online training program that extends her reach on a global level. As a trainer whom has a background in physical therapy – that is an extra level of expertise added to their company’s value. The functional movement and the importance of mobility/mechanics when working with clients are essential skills to have when training them. Shyis a certified ALS and BLS trainer who can administer CPR if needed. Cynt Santana of NY’s Love & Hip-Hop is among her celebrity based clientele. However, a client that walks in the gym and trains with their team becomes a notable.
Publicist Lynn Hobson states, “This dynamic duo is taking fitness to another level. They’ve managed to take over an area populated by the entertainment world as well as business owners, entrepreneurs and the teacher who lives next door”. Although Plem has appeared on FOX 5 and Hot97 several times as the resident fitness guru on “Street Soldiers,” he remains humble but driven. In 2013-2016, he was at a crossroad. He was the ‘go to man’ for private security. He ran VIP sections for nightclubs, Last, The Hudson Terrace, Angels, Stardust to name a few. Cardi B, Bernice and Dream Doll are among the few clients who reached out to him to do private security detail for them. When an artist respects your work ethic and they know you are fit to do the job…you will get a call. They knew Plem could handle any given situation.
Shy’s credentials speak for themselves. Her social media presence continues to make an impact and her clients and followers have so much to gain from her knowledgeable background and training. When they work together they are unstoppable. Their clients rave about the results and the name behind it. So be prepared when you walk into their sessions – you are walking into the lion’s den where your results are not a dream. Your goals become your reality.
