Toronto-based Hip Hop artist City has always been intent on carving out his own distinctive sound. His latest single, ‘Let Me Know’, while a slight departure from his previous work, still stays true to his cinematic and atmospheric-heavy blend of Hip-Hop.
A change of pace from his more aggressive back catalog, the track offers an insight into a more relaxed, almost ‘downtempo’ side of City’s style, featuring alleviating melodies, brazen wordplay, and an undeniably relaxed flow. It’s also a breath of fresh air to hear trap-style programming done with an array of live drum hits instead of conventional 808s and 909s.
Let Me Know was taken from his debut album ‘Elevate’, and is accompanied by its own music video directed by BrownGuymadeit. The video was aired on BETJamz in June 2021 and perfectly captures the swagger that City radiates through both his persona and music.
