Every significant achievement was once just a grand dream. Whether that is becoming the next president or breaking bad patterns, the principles are the same. You must be aggressive, believe in yourself, and put in the work. The truth is, you won’t grow in comfort, and you most likely won’t make it on your first attempt. The secret is to keep trying and envisioning the end result, even when you are losing. That’s how rising rapper Fabdon turned his life around and established his career.
Fabdon is an up-and-coming artist from Southside Jamaica, Queens, home to many hip-hop icons such as 50 Cent and Nas. Since his childhood, Fabdon knew he wanted to walk in their footsteps and make a name for himself as one of the greats. However, wishing and actualizing something is not the same. Though his talent developed early, he didn’t turn it into a successful career immediately. Instead, he went to prison first.
Until 2014, Fabdon was one of the fastest rising stars from Queens. While others were making noise on the streets, he was busy spitting rhymes and rhythms to the top. He worked with his then-manager perfecting his style and honing his skills. Fabdon’s talent shone so brightly that NYC’s self-proclaimed prince, DJ Self, took notice. The plan was to sign him to DJ Self’s Gwinin label and take his career from there. Then, in 2014, Fabdon got indicted on conspiracy to commit murder and other charges and went to prison.
Fabdon stayed in prison until he was exonerated three years later. Upon his release, he tried to get his groove back, but things had changed. While serving his sentence, DJ Self found another artist to sign. Worst of all, it was LouGotCash, Fabdon’s longtime rival. With his chance gone and by being unfocused, Fabdon found himself in trouble for the second time and went back to prison for fraud. During that period, his former manager fell ill and died.
Williams’ death was a big blow, but Fabdon was determined to succeed. He started reading more while still in prison and manifesting his future. Though he did not know when he’d be released, he started speaking his early release into existence and preparing for his comeback. His wishes came true in early 2020 when he was released because of Covid-19. He was more prepared for freedom and ready to reenter the industry this time around.
Luck was already on Fabdon’s side. When he came home, he found that DJ Self had dropped LouGotCash from his label and was willing to support Fabdon. He has consistently played Fabdon’s music since then. In 2021, bigger doors opened, and he experienced more growth. Fabdon shared the stage with Pooh Shiesty in Rochester, the very place he’d been in prison only months before. During the same period, Nas’s brother Jungle made Fabdon an offer, and they met and mingled in Queensbridge Projects.
Fabdon also beat his rival LouGotCash during the Lemon Pepper Beat, the hardest diss and freestyle of 2021. So far, his luck has held in 2022. Fabdon has been working and moving around with 50 Cent, and they are trying to work something out. Right now, Fabdon is working towards a bigger goal of
