Canyon is an artist who understands how much hard work and devotion are required when one wishes to make it big in the music and entertainment industry, since that is exactly how he intends to propel his career to success. As a New York native, Canyon is currently pursuing his musical career on the bustling streets of Los Angeles, California. Hence, Canyon’s stage name is one that encapsulates his artistic richness and represents his two home states of California and New York. In addition to blending his identities, Canyon is also an artist who blends his sounds, yet also comes up with unique ways to portray his talents.

“I have songs that are very intense and I have super pleasant jams,” he said in a recent interview. “I have a heavy raspy voice that I use in a lot of different ways. I definitely would say my music is very confident but at the same time vulnerable and introspective. I’m kind of a paradox like that.”

Canyon began rapping at the age of eleven, and by the age of thirteen, he was already releasing songs on the internet and building a fan base. Despite the success of his songs, which even made it into worldwide charts, they were pulled down due to copyright difficulties. But this didn’t bother the hip-hop musician in the least; rather, it spurred his enthusiasm for his trade, as he realized he had a lot of musical talent.

Canyon made his musical debut in 2021 with three tracks starring Mvthabrain (previously known as Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire), Jadakiss, and Raekwon, three of New York’s greatest and grittiest performers.

Now, in his latest music video release, “IN THE PAINT,” ft. Mvthabrain, he’s taking these iconic co-signs and showing his own value.

“Overall my goal is to have an impact, leave a legacy, and show who I am,” Canyon says.

“IN THE PAINT” tells the story of Canyon growing up and becoming a revolutionary free-thinker. Waka Flocka’s “Hard in the Paint,” a smash success during the musician’s high school days, is also referenced in the song. After accumulating over a whopping 1.28 million listens on Soundcloud, “IN THE PAINT” has created history and surpassed expectations. It’s safe to say that the video has been highly anticipated.

The most significant takeaway from Canyon’s sound is his adaptability. Canyon proves that he can keep up and offers a raw talent that adds grit to the game by being able to channel a narrative flow. With every release, he’s demonstrating his knowledge of rap and sound adaption.

After working with Canyon, Raekwon and Jadakiss have remarked that he is someone to look out for in the future, reflecting on his experience over the previous year composing and producing his next album. Raekwon commented, “Kid’s got talent.” “I was honored to be picked early on to rock alongside him; keep an eye out for him!”

Within “IN THE PAINT,” there are aspects of rawness, raspy-refinement, and introspection, coupled with a radical 90’s New York influence, and the song effectively transmits a free-thinking type of vibe.

“I want fans to realize I’m going to be making a lot of very creative, fresh music like this going forward,” Canyon says of his new track. “I want them to feel like a f–king beast listening to it.”

Make sure to follow Canyon on Instagram, @canyonsgram, and keep an eye out for any new stuff. He’ll be releasing more songs soon, as well as his debut album in early 2022.
