In 2015, he co-founded “Bass Gods” originally as a music production company, along with his two partners, Randolph Francis and Kevon Polk. In 2021, Jerome started his own business consultancy and management company to help others achieve their goals by using his years of experience in the music industry.

Work Experience & Education:

On being asked about his business education, Jerome replied that he had not attended any business school. He actually thinks the most valuable things he has learned so far are all more hands-on and practical. Informal education is just as important – especially when it comes down to building your skillset. With that being said, there are other ways in which you can learn just as much or even more than you would by going to school for it, like getting experience and working with people who are competent so that you can acquire new information through observation for yourself.

He strives to become proficient in the music business by gaining more experience to help him advance his career, and he evaluates his experiences with some of his peers and other industry professionals. It helps point out mistakes which ultimately helps him and his clients save money, time, and improve in future projects.

Over the years, Jerome has worked with many mentors- but he admires ‘Charlie Walk – Former President of Republic Records’ the most. Jerome is really grateful for Charlie and all he has done for him throughout his endeavors to become a better music industry professional. He says Charlie has helped him master his music business.

To improve, Jerome has always looked up to great music industry consultants and managers like Jeff Price, Mark Tavern, Wendy Day, and Steve Lobel. Jerome believes that the best way to learn about this rapidly evolving field is to find people who have been there before, done it all before, or at least have extensive knowledge acquired over the course of their experience.

Jerome’s Advice for Artists Looking forward to Hire a Management Team:

Put yourself in a position of vulnerability based on what feels intuitively right. Make sure you surround yourself with bright, eager staff who are well-trained and ready to work hard. You will need industry professionals to help you manage everything from the managerial level down to the legal level – because running your own company is that much more difficult. You may not have enough money to hire them full time, but you can outsource for services and hire them on an “as-needed” basis. That way, you’ll be able to delegate so you can work more “on” your business instead of “in” your business. This will help you expand because you’ll be able to take on more projects and make more money than you would if you were working alone.

Also, be willing to learn and grow with others. Just like you’re an upcoming producer or artist, there are also upcoming managers out there who might be willing to learn and grow with you.

Jerome’s Advice for New & Struggling Artists:

“Never lose hope and keep trying again and again! Nothing is going to come easy- so prepare yourself for a grind. Have confidence in your vision, but also know that it’s possible you could create something better than what you had initially imagined. Understand that your age has no impact on the success of a business or music career – it only matters how dedicated to it you are, how you choose to promote yourself, and whether or not people buy into the dream.” – Jerome Grace

Jerome’s views regarding Financial Freedom for new Artists:

“Helping music creators reach financial freedom is important to Jerome because it allows them to be competitive. When music creators aren’t in a position to raise the necessary funds to produce their art and create their own business plans, the result is a less competitive market with fewer new ideas and innovations.” – Jerome Grace
