Born July 5th 1993, recording artist NXTFRIDAY was born and raised in Alexandria, VA just outside of Washington DC. He was born to Palestinian Arab Parents who migrated to America before Friday was born as refugees to escape the war. Growing up Friday’s parents wanted him to become an engineer or doctor but Friday had other plans. Friday loved to challenge authority so he always found himself either suspended or even expelled from school, as he didn’t care for school much.
Music is his life story, everything you hear in his music comes from something he has seen or been through. Growing up, music was his escape. The way he expressed himself while sharing his story, in hopes others could relate one day, after getting kicked out of high school and put in an alternative school where they have a professional studio installed to help steer kids in a different path.
Friday has since self taught himself to engineer and record his own vocals, by watching videos on youtube. He doesn’t believe in waiting on the next person to help him as he was taught “when you want something done right, do it yourself. After opening up for multiple acts such as Mac Miller, Curren$y and Mod Sun, he knew music was his calling from the rush he would get on stage to the late night studio sessions. What makes this up-and coming star so unique is that it’s not often you see an artist that hands on, from engineering to co-directing, to also funding his own music all while being independent is surely impressive. He loves the freedom of being an independent artist, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t faced multiple challenges along the way. Friday describes “being independent means being in control of my own destiny. One thing for sure, Friday is here to stay and make his mark on the music industry.
In the next few years, he will become one of the biggest artists in the world.
