In a brand new light, “SUPA” sees Theo Major and Shawn Smith in an upbeat, positive mood — reflecting on life’s lessons.
In the accompanying music video for “SUPA,” Theo Major is seen reflecting on a failed relationship that resulted from his disregard for his lady’s emotional needs. He is in a reflective but upbeat attitude. The duo succeeds on every level with the support of Philadelphia rapper Shawn Smith, whose lyrical flow is beyond tight.
As far as describing his sound to people listening to it for the first time, the words “genre bending, edgy, smooth, and soulful,” come to mind. Theo Major definitely makes music that can makes you want to dance and feel the sound.
This is not Theo’s first trip around the sun, and his new path represents his evolving outlook on life, according to the music video which was directed by Ibrahim Golden and features Shawn Smith’s Hip Hop poetry. Theo is influenced by musicians like Andre 3000, T-Pain, Sade, Ryan Leslie, Childish Gambino, Kaytranda, Smino, Lucky Daye, and Channel Tres in addition to the tradition of his Philadelphia hometown and artists like Teddy Pendergrass. His music is clever and sincere, just like theirs, and the video follows those themes.
“Next up for me is releasing a few more singles and beginning to solidify my sound leading to my debut EP,” Theo Major says. “I have a number of projects that I already have a vision for that I plan to bring to fruition.”
