New music from rapper Levi Russell is music to his fan’s ears. The Eastside Houston native has delivered an energetic crew anthem titled “MOB” that storms through a variety of cadences and flows in just over 2 mins. Though dizzying, the results are melodic satisfaction.
The record’s central chant “Come and hang with the Mob” is infectious as it is hypnotizing, pulling the listener into a menacing but intriguing invitation into the way Russell lives on his side. He playfully contrasts himself against other rappers, highlighting their grandiose assertions of wealth and luxury as nothing more than deceit and mirrors them back with true authenticity. Why need to wear name brands when you’re Levi Russell. CJ Stephens runs a-mock with his bass heavy production for the record, transporting listeners right to front row seats of Russell’s stage show. If nothing else, “MOB” has established Russell’s sonic uniqueness, boldness and undeniable willingness to stand out from the crowd.
Listen to “MOB” after the jump.
