Dom Okon is a popular artist who started his career in late 2021 when he featured on a song called “Blackboard.” In 2022, just six months later, he released his first album titled “Youthly,” which received positive reviews and success. The title track from the album even charted on iTunes, making Dom Okon the youngest American instrumental artist to have a song on the iTunes Pop Charts.
Since achieving this feat, a range of products has been released under his name, including dolls, phone cases, stickers, candles, magnets, and a video game. The video game, called “Dom Okon’s Beats,” was developed by GS-Games and released to the public on June 15th, 2023. The game’s soundtrack features Okon’s popular song “Youthly,” and the objective is for players to match the sound they hear with the arrows that appear on their screen. Matching the music correctly makes Dom Okon happy, while incorrect matches make him sad.
When Dom Okon and GS-Games collaborated on this video game, they probably never imagined it would make history. Previously, the well-known singer Jojo Siwa held the record as the youngest American musician to have a video game based on herself at age 19 with her game “Jojo Siwa: Worldwide Party” released in October 2022. She surpassed Britney Spears, who held the record for 20 years with her video game “Britney’s Dance Beats” released in 2002 when she was only 20 years old. Dom Okon has now surpassed both of these famous singers, becoming the youngest American musician at age 18 to have a video game based on himself with the release of “Dom Okon’s Beats.” He has also become the second youngest musician in the world to have a video game based on himself, as well as the first instrumental artist worldwide to achieve this.
The King of Instrumental Pop plans to release a new album titled “Emergent” this November. It will be interesting to see if he can replicate the success of his debut album, as it won’t be easy to follow up. One thing that is certain is that Okon has made a significant impact on the music world in the two years he has been around.
