Paying homage is never a bad thing. The GRAMMYs are set to pay tribute to the legendary Quincy Jones at this year’s ceremony, celebrating his extraordinary career and lasting impact on music. Announced on Wednesday, January 29, the tribute will feature a star-studded lineup, including performances by Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Cynthia Erivo, Herbie Hancock, Jacob Collier, Janelle Monáe, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, and Stevie Wonder.
Get this: as part of the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards, the tribute to Jones will be woven into a series of special performances, including the annual In Memoriam segment and tributes honoring the spirit of Los Angeles, where Jones’ influence has left an indelible mark on the city’s music scene.
To remind you, Quincy Jones, who passed away on November 3, 2024, at age 91, is a 28-time GRAMMY winner spanning six decades. His accolades include the Trustees Award in 1989 and the Grammy Legend Award in 1992. Over the years, Jones also mentored generations of artists, including Hancock, Wonder, and Legend, shaping the careers of countless musicians.
This year’s GRAMMYs will also feature performances from other confirmed artists, including Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Doechii, RAYE, Sabrina Carpenter, Shakira, and Teddy Swims.
Despite all that’s happened with the LA wildfire crisis, the Recording Academy has decided to proceed with the show, which will also focus on raising funds for Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. As part of the efforts, the Academy and MusiCares have raised over $4 million in emergency aid for music professionals affected by the wildfires. In addition to honoring Jones, the ceremony will recognize the bravery of first responders who helped combat the fires.
ICYMI, the GRAMMYs, will be hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year, will air live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT via CBS, and can be streamed on Paramount+. The non-televised GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony will also be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at 12:30 p.m. PT and can be viewed on the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel and live.GRAMMY.com.
