As he gears up for this comedy event of the year, HaHa Davis sat down with us to talk about his journey from social media to the big stage, what fans can expect from his set, and why this tour is one you won’t want to miss.
The Source: We Them Ones” is returning for another massive tour. What excites you most about hitting the road with this powerhouse lineup of comedians?
Haha Davis: I think having that much talent in one room will intensify my greatness. It’s an all-star lineup, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This moment can only help me be a better comedian and I’m grateful they took me for the ride.
You started your comedy career online, captivating fans with catchphrases like ‘Big Fella’ and ‘Guard!’ How has that journey shaped your transition to stand-up comedy?”
My journey from the internet to the stage allowed me to have a fan base to start with that wants to see me in person. It didn’t make it easier, though, because becoming a real stand-up comedian was still a tough road.
Detroit has a rich history of talent and resilience. How has your hometown influenced your comedy style and perspective?
The grit and the hustle. In Detroit, that’s the Amin thing. The content I made reflected the things I saw and went through. I came up with the guard phrase in my mom’s basement, and the big fella came from a ride on the freeway. So, my city’s culture had a big influence on the content I made and the jokes I told.
You bring so much energy and relatability to your performances. What inspires your material and keeps your delivery fresh?”
I think it comes down to keeping up with the culture. Writing jokes and material that relate to a mass amount of people to make sure we touch everybody with the material I use.
With the ‘We Them Ones’ tour being such a major event, what’s next for you after May? Any exciting projects or goals you’re aiming for?
After this is done, I’m focusing on doing my theater tour so I can gear up for my special. I will also be working on some upcoming TV shows and films and returning to film school.
As someone who’s made such a big impact on the comedy world, what advice would you give to aspiring comedians looking to follow in your footsteps?
Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do. Have No Self Doubt. That’s my mantra I made my company off of. Follow your dreams no matter what anybody says. No matter if it’s your mom, family, friends, or nobody. Stay down until you come up.
