Fantasy sports just got even bigger. PrizePicks, the largest daily fantasy sports operator in North America, just crowned the winner of Super Sweat, an electrifying competition giving fans a shot at winning $1 million during the Big Game. With millions of participants showcasing their touchdown dance creativity, Super Sweat was one of the most thrilling contests in fantasy sports history.
The competition unfolded in three unique phases, featuring Druski as judge and ultimately leading to a lucky fan getting to take a chance at $1 million.
To break it all down, we caught up with Trent Book It, a key figure in the fantasy sports world, to discuss the excitement surrounding Super Sweat, his strategies for success, and what this competition means for the future of fantasy sports.
The Source: What made you want to partner with PrizePicks, and what makes them such a great partner?
Bookit With Trent: Great question. So, when I started gaining traction on social media, a lot of companies reached out wanting to partner with me. However, one incredibly persistent company was PrizePicks. I wasn’t into daily fantasy, but PrizePicks was relentless about getting an up-and-coming influencer to partner with their growing brand and app.
I ended up loving it, the app was super user-friendly, and it helped that my first lineup hit, which got me excited. Over a month, I really started to fall for it. At the time, there were only five employees at PrizePicks. Now, there are thousands, which is insane. I saw a huge opportunity for the app to become prominent in the space.
What they’ve done better than anyone is establish their culture and brand, rather than just being another app in the market. They’ve done amazing work with influencers like myself, and also with artists. A lot of people who play PrizePicks love interacting with the brand. If you go on Twitter, 90% of the tweets are about PrizePicks because people love sharing their lineups. It’s been a fun ride. We’ve grown together, which has been cool. They also host all these events that bring the community together, which makes it even more fun. There’s no partner I’d rather have. I’ve had multiple offers from other companies, but I’ve always stuck with PrizePicks because I love being a part of their brand and culture.
We are coming off the Super Sweat Big Game competition, where we celebrated end zone celebrations. What would your end zone celebration be if you entered the contest?
There are so many good ones. If I were to have an end zone celebration, I’d probably do something like the “Earthquake.” I’d jump on the ground, and all my teammates would fall on the ground with me. It’s a lame dance, but I have great memories from when I used to do it in baseball games after hitting a home run. My teammates would fall to the floor, and we’d all do it together. So, a coordinated celebration with my teammates.
Last year I had the chance to do the Million Dollar Lineup. I still think about it every day—what a horrible beat. It was a four-pick lineup: Mahomes’ rush yards, Kelsey’s receiving yards, Iuke’s under-receiving yards, and McCaffrey with one and a half touchdowns. Everything hit except McCaffrey. He had 10 chances to score again, but Kyle Shanahan couldn’t make it happen. It still makes me sick.
Who would you lean toward for your lineup if you had the Million Dollar Entry this year?
I mean, how do you not put Saquon in there? I’d probably go right back to Mahomes’ rush yards and Kelsey’s receiving yards. I don’t know if I’d go back to Kelsey, though. I’d also include Xavier Worthy, and I’d take a “less than” pick. I’d try to find an Eagles receiver to take the under on.
When creating your lineup, how do you research and find the best picks?
I use a few tools where you can check all the lines and see how players have performed in the last few games or against certain defenses. It gives you a lot of data to help make your picks. But I also rely on people I trust. Last year, when I was crafting my lineup, I brought people onto a stream and let them pitch their picks. I only let the people I trust give their input because there was a million dollars on the line.
What makes me sick is that I had the winning lineup but switched it at the last minute. I think about that every day. Instead of keeping McCaffrey with one and a half touchdowns, I added a “demon” lineup, which was ridiculous. I’ll never forgive them for that. In the end, Mahomes rushed for 55 yards, and McCaffrey scored one touchdown. I should’ve stuck with my original lineup.
This contest allowed sports fans and PrizePicks players to show their creativity. What’s the best part about seeing the fan community engage in challenges like this?
Yeah, that’s what I think PrizePicks does so well: giving anyone a chance to become a millionaire. I don’t see anyone else doing it the way they do. Many other companies have contests or giveaways, but none are as interactive with the community on social media as PrizePicks. That makes them stand out, and I love partnering with them. They have so much flexibility and creativity compared to the more corporate, buttoned-up companies. It’s all about allowing people to express themselves and possibly make money. And PrizePicks capitalizes on that better than anyone. So, shout out to them for that.
Who wins on Sunday, and what’s the score?
I’ve learned the hard way betting against Mahomes the last couple of years, so I’m not doing that again. I’ll take the Chiefs, 31-27.
