As Black History Month shines a spotlight on Black pioneers whose contributions have shaped culture, Edmond’s Honor, an ultra-premium bourbon whiskey, makes its debut with a bold mission: to honor legacy, elevate craftsmanship, and celebrate everyday heroes.
Created by Pronghorn, a company dedicated to diversifying the spirits industry, Edmond’s Honor is the brand’s first product innovation. Crafted by liquid curator Tracie Franklin, the bourbon pays tribute to Edmond Albius, a Malagasy botanist who revolutionized vanilla cultivation by developing the hand-pollination technique still used today.
Born on the island of Bourbon (now Réunion) off the coast of Madagascar, Albius’s discovery turned vanilla into one of the world’s most sought-after flavors. Edmond’s Honor embraces this legacy, aging its bourbon in Madagascar vanilla extract-soaked cognac casks to create a rich, multi-layered profile.
“Edmond Albius isn’t a household name, but he should be. His discovery shaped an entire industry, yet his story remains largely untold,” said Pronghorn President Ron Cole. “With Edmond’s Honor, we’re reclaiming his legacy and uplifting a new generation of visionaries through every pour.”

With notes of honeysuckle, brown sugar, and toasted spices, the bourbon unfolds into flavors of sandalwood, coconut, nutmeg, and citrus zest, finishing with hints of orange blossom, cinnamon, and Madagascar vanilla. Its craftsmanship has already earned recognition, securing a Platinum Las Vegas Global Spirit Award.
“When we set out to create Edmond’s Honor, we wanted to represent Edmond Albius’ legacy through distinctive taste and embrace the essence of real Madagascar vanilla, an ingredient that he made possible,” said Tracie Franklin, Edmond Honor’s Liquid Curator. “Every sip is a testament to Edmond’s discovery and the artistry shaping the future of bourbon.”
More than just a luxury bourbon, Edmond’s Honor is a movement. The brand commits a portion of its proceeds to initiatives that support underrepresented pioneers in art, culinary arts, and mixology. By investing in these creatives, Edmond’s Honor aims to build a lasting impact beyond the glass.
Now available in select retailers across Georgia, New Jersey, and Florida, Edmond’s Honor is also available for nationwide shipping at www.edmondshonor.com.
