The Joe Budden Podcast has grown into one of the most influential music podcasts in the world, transforming Joe Budden from an underground rap favorite into hip-hop’s answer to Howard Stern. However, Peter Rosenberg, a veteran media figure, recently expressed frustration over what he sees as a lack of acknowledgment for his role in the podcast’s early days.
Rosenberg was heavily involved in the recording of the very first episode, helping Budden establish himself as a broadcaster and media personality. But as the podcast nears its 10-year anniversary in 2025, rather than celebrating, Rosenberg took to social media to call Budden out for being ungrateful.
Quote-tweeting a 2024 post that marked the podcast’s ninth anniversary, Rosenberg reflected on its historic first episode while also airing his grievances. “Happy Anniversary Joe & co.. no need to mention any of the original people who started with you,” he wrote sarcastically. “We all know you love us.”

He continued, stating that Budden’s refusal to acknowledge his contributions has become “annoying” over the years. “Annoying that Joe never shows any love or reaches out to me in any way,” Rosenberg added. “To come on the show or do anything.”
Despite his frustrations, Rosenberg made it clear that Budden’s talent was undeniable. “Joe would have made something great happen no matter what .. he is a true talent,” he admitted, before emphasizing his key role in the podcast’s early success. “It just would be cool to acknowledge those who believed in you—from the very beginning.”
This latest exchange is just another chapter in the ongoing tension between the two. Over the years, Rosenberg and Budden have publicly clashed on various topics, including the artistic merits of rapper Logic and Budden’s handling of former co-hosts Rory and Mal.
Rosenberg has previously claimed that Budden “will eventually burn every working relationship he has.” In a past discussion on Higher Learning, he also admitted that he mishandled his involvement in the podcast’s creation, saying, “I actually am just talent and have no business sense at all. So I didn’t handle it at all.”
As the Joe Budden Podcast approaches its milestone anniversary, it remains to be seen whether Budden will ever acknowledge Rosenberg’s role—or if the tension between them will only continue to grow.
