From the vibrant streets of Sierra Leone to the promising land of America, Issa Victor Rogers—better known as V5Dmelody—has lived a life shaped by music, struggle, and perseverance. His
journey is one of resilience, proving that even when dreams take unexpected detours, passion and dedication can pave the way to new beginnings.
A Name with Meaning, A Legacy in Motion
Born in Sierra Leone, V5Dmelody grew up in a household filled with love, alongside his four siblings and parents. His stage name carries deep personal significance—”V5D” represents being the last of five children, while “Victor” is a tribute to his mother, Victoria. “Melody” was bestowed upon him by his church pastor, recognizing his natural talent and leadership in praise and worship.
From the Soccer Field to the Studio
At 16, V5Dmelody set his sights on becoming a professional football player, relocating to Gambia to chase his dream. Multiple scholarship offers fueled his ambition, but an untimely injury and financial constraints brought that chapter to a close. While his soccer aspirations faded, his musical talent began to take center stage.
Embracing his love for music, he began singing in church, writing original songs, and performing with a live band on the streets of Gambia. His artistry flourished alongside hip-hop rapper Sylvester Young, with whom he co-produced 21 tracks inspired by war, love, friendship, and the harsh realities of life. His first single, Na War, gained attention, followed by Yow Rek, which solidified his presence in the music scene.
Tragedy, Transition, and Triumph
Just as momentum was building, life took another unexpected turn. Preparing to launch his brand, “Team Melody,” V5Dmelody received devastating news—his mother had passed away just days before his planned debut show. Heartbroken, he put everything on hold and
soon after, in 2022, immigrated to the United States in search of a fresh start.
The transition to America brought its own set of challenges. Cultural adjustments, financial struggles, and the weight of grief could have easily derailed him. But through it all, music remained his anchor. Writing and recording became his therapy, turning pain into purpose and struggle into sound. His music reflects his journey
—a raw, heartfelt expression of the highs and lows of life.
