The Orlando Magic handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their first loss of the season when leading after three quarters, rallying from a 13-point halftime deficit to win 108-103 on Tuesday night. Paolo Banchero led the charge with 24 points and 11 rebounds—his third consecutive 20/10 performance—capping an 11-3 closing run that ended Cleveland’s 16-game win streak.
The Cavs looked poised to keep rolling after a buzzer-beating three from De’Andre Hunter, fed by Donovan Mitchell, put them up by 13 at the break. Mitchell, returning after a two-game absence, led Cleveland with 23 points. But Orlando chipped away in the third and seized momentum in a back-and-forth fourth quarter that featured nine lead changes.
Franz Wagner added 22 points and Wendell Carter Jr. delivered a double-double for Orlando, which hit four threes in the final frame while holding Cleveland to 4-of-13 from deep. Anthony Black’s triple gave the Magic a lead with 6:46 left, and Banchero’s midrange jumper down the stretch sealed the upset.
The Cavs entered the night 48-0 when leading after three. They fall to 48-1.
The loss also tarnished what’s been a standout run for Hunter, who ranks fifth in the league in Net Rating since joining the Cavs. Orlando, meanwhile, moved within half a game of the 7th seed in the East.
