Kanye West’s ongoing feud with Jay-Z has been well-documented, with the rapper frequently airing his grievances through songs, social media rants, and concert outbursts. What was once a close relationship between the two artists who collaborated on Watch the Throne has now soured, and the tensions between them have escalated. However, Kanye recently crossed a line that may prompt a significant response from Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé.
During a Twitter meltdown, Kanye made tasteless comments about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s young children, which has reportedly led the couple to consider legal action. A source told Page Six that Jay-Z and Beyoncé are aware of the deleted posts and are discussing how to handle the situation, potentially through legal means.
“[They] are aware of the posts Kanye has since deleted and are discussing how they want to handle this situation,” the source explained. “Whether that be privately and/or in a legal matter.” While details of their strategy remain private, the source emphasized that Jay-Z and Beyoncé will not tolerate Kanye’s actions.
“[They] will absolutely not stand for it,” the source added.
The couple reportedly has no plans to respond publicly to Kanye’s comments. “They have no plans on publicly addressing Kanye’s X posts about their children,” the source noted.
Kanye’s controversial remarks began when he tweeted that Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s youngest children had mental disabilities, saying, “Wait, has anyone ever seen Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s younger kids? They’re ret*rted. No, like literally.” He further insulted the family by linking artificial insemination to disabilities, which rubbed many people the wrong way. “This is why artificial insemination is such a blessing,” he wrote. “Having retr*ted children is a choice.”
The post was eventually deleted, and Kanye explained his reasoning, stating, “I need everyone to know that I took the post about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s family down because there was a possibility of my Twitter being cancelled [sic].” He also clarified that his decision to remove the post wasn’t about being a “good person.” In his characteristic style, Kanye added a tasteless joke to the explanation: “Took it down like down syndrome. Get it.”
It’s clear why Jay-Z and Beyoncé have reportedly opted not to engage with Kanye’s remarks publicly. Their silence may reflect the severity of the situation and the need to protect their family from further harm.
