Okay, Katt Williams, you go get that studio bread. The hilarious comedian and entrepreneur is making bold moves in the entertainment industry, drawing inspiration from fellow trailblazers like Tyler Perry.
It all went down during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Williams revealed his ambitious plan to convert a recently purchased military base into a state-of-the-art movie studio.
“The reason why my life works in golf and off the golf course is because I follow instructions well,” Williams, 53, explained. “So if I see somebody do a good job, I just want to do a good job. I’m going to follow the example. So Tyler Perry got a military base, made it into a movie studio, and started making movies.”
Fallon, who’s no stranger to finding the funny in anything, was intrigued by the idea and asked, “Are you making movies?” Williams responded with his signature humor, exclaiming, “I’m not wearing dresses,” before inviting Fallon to film at his Alabama-based studio.
If you don’t know, this isn’t the first time Williams has shared his vision for the project. In a 2023 interview with GQ, he discussed being inspired by Perry and Donald Glover and 50 Cent. “It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry,” Williams told the magazine. “He can only do so much.”
Moreover, during his conversation with Fallon, Williams also reflected on his early career, addressing a long-standing rumor that Dr. Seuss sued him over his original stage name, Katt in the Hat. “I had only done Comic View twice, Jimmy, and I get a cease and desist,” he recalled. “I got a cease and desist for my appearances on Comic View where I made $300 from three seasons. And they sent a cease and desist. And because I’m a naturally positive person, like to the point where if something negative happens in front of me—I don’t see it. So when they sued me for the name, I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I’m worthless. How the hell did I end up on their radar? I’m gonna make it!’”
What we do know is Williams’ determination and resilience have paid off, as he now sets his sights on creating a legacy in the film industry. By transforming a military base into a movie studio, he aims to follow in the footsteps of entertainment giants while carving out his unique path.
Like we said, go get that studio bread, Katt!
