Boosie Badazz Faces Legal Threat Over Unauthorized Scholarship Announcement

Boosie Badazz may need legal representation after facing backlash from the family of Caleb Wilson, a college student who died due to fraternity hazing. The rapper recently announced a scholarship in Wilson’s memory as part of his Boosie Bash Festival at Southern University, pledging a portion of the event’s proceeds to the initiative. However, Wilson’s family is now speaking out, stating that Boosie did not have permission to use their son’s name.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has warned that legal action could follow if Boosie proceeds with his plans.

“Caleb Wilson’s parents have advised me that they have not given consent and know nothing about their son’s name and image being used to promote this event,” Murrill told WBRZ. “They didn’t even know the event was happening. They have requested that his name, image, and any reference to a scholarship for him be removed from all promotional materials. I intend to take legal action due to their misappropriation of his name and image to promote their for-profit event. This is not a charitable event.”

Boosie has since responded, stating that his event has been in promotion since November. He argued that the student’s tragic death did not benefit his show but instead created challenges, emphasizing that he was attempting to help the situation. Concluding his statement, Boosie referred to the controversy as a case of “keeping it real goes wrong.”
