The Oklahoma City Thunder reached a historic milestone Tuesday night, defeating the Sacramento Kings 121-105 to become the first team in the 2024-25 NBA season to hit 60 wins. This achievement places them among the fastest teams in league history to reach the mark, matching the pace of legendary squads like the 1982-83 Sixers and 1999-00 Lakers—both of whom went on to win the championship.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 32 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, marking his league-leading 45th game with 30 or more points this season. Chet Holmgren added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, helping OKC secure its seventh consecutive victory.
The Thunder’s 60 wins tie the franchise’s Oklahoma City-era record, initially set by the 2012-13 team. With 10 games remaining, they are within reach of the overall franchise record of 64 wins, set by the 1995-96 Seattle SuperSonics.
Gilgeous-Alexander also made history by recording his 65th straight game with at least 20 points, surpassing Kevin Durant for the longest such streak in franchise history. The only players to accomplish this feat in a single season are NBA legends Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, and Wilt Chamberlain.
Despite a strong third-quarter push from the Kings, highlighted by Keegan Murray’s nine three-pointers, OKC pulled away in the fourth to seal the victory. The loss keeps Sacramento in ninth place in the Western Conference standings, just ahead of the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks in the tight postseason race.
