Another day another legal outcome. Brooklyn rapper Sheff G, legally known as Michael Williams, has pleaded guilty to attempted murder and conspiracy charges, resulting in a five-year prison sentence. The 26-year-old artist entered his plea on March 26, 2023, as part of an agreement that significantly reduced his potential sentence—originally facing up to 20 years before the deal was reached.
Get this, the emphatic sentencing was finalized by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun, who also ordered five years of post-release supervision. While the hearing was initially scheduled for August 2023, the proceedings concluded earlier than expected.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez underscored the gravity of the case, stating:
“Notoriety could not shield this defendant from justice. He used his fame to fund and direct violence, terrorizing our streets.”
He further emphasized law enforcement’s stance on gang-related crime, adding:
“We remain dedicated to dismantling these criminal networks and holding those responsible fully accountable.”
Check this out. Sheff G was among 32 individuals named in a 140-count indictment tied to violent gang activity, including shootings, illegal firearms possession, and the use of stolen vehicles in conflicts. Prosecutors linked many of these incidents to social media posts and surveillance footage.
What’s more, one of the most severe allegations involved an October 21, 2020, mass shooting that killed 23-year-old Theodore Senior (a rival gang member) and injured five others. Authorities claim Sheff G helped plan and later celebrated the attack, allegedly hosting a Manhattan steakhouse dinner in its honor.
At the time of the crimes, Sheff G was reportedly living in a rented home in Short Hills, New Jersey, where prosecutors say he used music earnings to finance gang operations—including cash rewards and luxury jewelry for those who carried out violent acts.
Wild.
The case extends beyond Sheff G, with other defendants—including rapper Sleepy Hallow (Tegan Chambers)—still facing charges under the same indictment.
