The Los Angeles Sparks will retire Candace Parker’s No. 3 jersey at Crypto.com Arena on June 29 during halftime of their game against the Chicago Sky. She joins Lisa Leslie and Penny Toler as the only Sparks players to receive the honor.
“To see my jersey hanging among legends is truly an honor,” Parker said. “This moment isn’t just about me—it’s about my family, my teammates, and the incredible support from the LA Sparks organization and fans.”
The ceremony will feature appearances from former teammates, coaches, and special guests, along with a video tribute. The Sparks will also celebrate Parker’s new book, The Can-Do Mindset, with special activations.
Parker played 13 seasons with the Sparks (2008-2020), leading the team to the 2016 WNBA championship and earning Finals MVP honors. A two-time WNBA MVP (2008, 2013) and 2020 Defensive Player of the Year, she holds the franchise record for assists and ranks top three in points and rebounds.
Sparks Co-Owner Earvin “Magic” Johnson called her “the best all-around player in WNBA history,” praising her legacy and impact. Sparks Governor Eric Holoman added, “Candace defined an era for the Sparks, and her No. 3 rightfully belongs among basketball legends.”
Tickets for the ceremony go on sale March 31 at axs.com.
