Fulton County Prosecutors Files Motion To Have Young Thug’s Probation Revoked

Fulton County prosecutors have filed a motion to revoke Young Thug’s probation, arguing that the rapper has engaged in conduct that endangers witnesses and compromises legal proceedings. According to court records obtained by Atlanta’s CBS affiliate WSB-TV, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office is pushing to have his probation rescinded, citing his recent public statements and social media activity.

Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, was sentenced to 15 years of probation and a ten-year ban from the Metro Atlanta area earlier this year. However, the prosecution claims that since his sentencing, he has acted in ways that threaten the court’s integrity and put key figures involved in the case at risk.

The motion points explicitly to Young Thug’s public criticism of Marissa Viverito, a key investigator in the case, whom he labeled as “the biggest liar in the DA’s office.” Prosecutors also argue that his comments have fueled online speculation and harassment, stating that his remarks have led to third-party actions that could interfere with the case.

“The integrity of this court and the safety of those involved in this prosecution are at stake,” the motion reads, underscoring the DA’s concern over the potential consequences of his statements.

Young Thug initially faced legal trouble when he was arrested in May 2022 as part of a sweeping RICO indictment against alleged members of YSL (Young Slime Life), a group that prosecutors claim functioned as a criminal street gang. He spent over a year in jail before finally securing a plea agreement earlier this year, which allowed him to avoid further incarceration in exchange for strict probation terms.

The latest motion signals that the legal battle is far from over, as the DA’s office seeks to bring him back before the court. Whether or not the judge will agree to revoke his probation remains to be seen.
