Blueface Must Pay Six-Figure Sum in Defamation Case Involving Soulja Boy’s GF

Whelp, this isn’t something you want to hear while locked up. Los Angeles judge has ruled that rapper Blueface must pay over $120,000 in damages to Jackilyn Martinez, the girlfriend of fellow artist Soulja Boy, after failing to respond to a defamation lawsuit.

Finalizing this decisive judgment, Blueface must legally fulfill the not-so-small financial penalty. The ruling serves as a legal consequence for the rapper’s online statements, reinforcing the repercussions of defamatory social media posts.

According to court documents obtained by inTouch, Martinez filed the lawsuit in December 2023 after Blueface claimed on social media that he was the father of her child. The tweets were part of a heated online exchange between Blueface and Soulja Boy, which included threats of physical violence.

What’s interesting, despite initially seeking $10 million in damages, Martinez was awarded a total of $123,243.10 in a default judgment issued on Tuesday (April 1). The breakdown includes $100,000 for emotional distress, $18,000 in special damages, $3,070 in attorney fees, and $2,173 in court costs. The judge declined to grant additional punitive damages.

Blueface, whose legal name is Johnathan Porter, did not respond to the lawsuit or appear in court for the hearing. Following the ruling, Soulja Boy seemingly celebrated the outcome on the gram, posting, “Send that money boy you balling you got it right?”

The case stemmed from a social media dispute between the two rappers, which began when Blueface claimed he would defeat Soulja Boy in a hypothetical Verzuz battle. Martinez became entangled in the feud when Blueface made false paternity claims about her child.

Posting anything isn’t worth it.
