New Single “Stronghold Walls”: A Stirring Anthem of Hope and Breakthrough from James River Church’s Worship Collective

James River Worship, a collective of musicians and worship leaders from James River Church in Springfield, Missouri, has released a powerful new single titled “Stronghold Walls.” More than just a song, it’s a passionate anthem of hope, resilience, and breakthrough—one that resonates deeply with those longing to see change in their communities and beyond.

Opening with the lyric, “There’s a fire starting in this room, just say the word and mountains will be moved,” the song sets the tone for a compelling message: transformation is possible, no matter the odds. With its dynamic sound and bold lyrical declarations, “Stronghold Walls” invites listeners into a moment of collective courage and conviction—speaking to anyone who has faced obstacles and dared to believe they could be overcome.

Creative Roots and Collaborative Vision

Written by a team that includes James River Church pastors Eli Brown, Don Hamilton, and Brandon Lindell, the track blends modern production with anthemic intensity. Its message is rooted in the writers’ own experiences of perseverance and vision. “I think it’s one thing to write a song from just an idea, which there is nothing wrong with, but when it’s written from a sermon that was for the house of God, that’s when it’s special,” says Hamilton.

The song’s chorus, “Stronghold walls are coming down, this city is our battleground,” underscores its call for unity and faith in the face of adversity. Co-writer Eli Brown shares that the writing process spanned over eight months, evolving through multiple iterations before arriving at the final version. “Our hope was to create a melody that would match the intensity of the heart behind it,” he says. “We’ve been praying for change, and this song gave voice to that cry.”

Global Vision and Expanding Reach

While “Stronghold Walls” reflects the heartbeat of its community of origin at James River Church, its impact is already reaching far beyond. James River Worship has plans to release the song in seven additional languages—including Spanish, French, German, and Mandarin—to connect with audiences worldwide. “We pray that this song will resonate in churches around the world,” says James River Church Pastor Brandon Lindell.

A Defining Moment in Worship

The single was recorded as part of a live album session held on January 19th, marking what the group describes as a creatively defining moment. “It felt like the beginning of something new,” one team member reflected. “There was a sense that these songs would not only inspire individuals but also empower communities to step into something greater.”

More Good Things Are Coming (and Soon!)

The full-length album is scheduled for release in the summer of 2025, with “Stronghold Walls” being the first of five singles to be shared in the months ahead.

“This isn’t just for us,” says Rakel Lenhart. “Our prayer is that anyone—whether a church, a business owner, or someone just trying to make a difference—would hear it and feel empowered to push through whatever stands in their way.”

With soaring vocals, driving rhythms, and a message of unwavering hope, “Stronghold Walls” feels tailor-made for the times we’re living in—when many are looking for a reason to believe again. Whether heard in a place of worship, during a commute, or in the quiet moments of personal reflection, this track offers more than just music—it offers momentum.

Stronghold Walls is now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
