October London brought his highly anticipated October Nights tour to the historic Chicago Theatre, delivering an evening steeped in classic R&B and neo-soul that left the audience captivated. Known for his velvety voice and a sound that effortlessly channels the spirit of legends like Marvin Gaye, London proved why he’s considered a vital voice in today’s music landscape.

The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as fans, both young and old, filled the grand venue. London, often dressed in his signature sharp suits and shades, exuded an undeniable coolness. His performance was a testament to authentic musicianship, backed by a tight band of talented musicians and three stellar backup singers, often referred to as the “Shendellas.”

London’s setlist seamlessly blended tracks from his acclaimed album, The Rebirth of Marvin, with other fan favorites. Songs like “She Keeps Calling,” “Mulholland Drive,” and “Back to Your Place” resonated deeply, showcasing his impressive vocal control and ability to evoke a bygone era of soulful romance while keeping it fresh for a contemporary audience. He generously gave his band members moments to shine with impressive solos, further highlighting the collective talent on stage.

Speaking with The Source, October London details what went into his tour and more.

Here are the questions and answers, with the numbers removed as you requested:

The SOURCE: This tour promises a journey through the best of contemporary R&B. How would you describe your role in shaping that journey on stage each night?

October London: Every night I step on that stage, I’m there to take people somewhere—emotionally, spiritually, romantically. My role is to open hearts and set the tone. I want folks to feel like they’re not just watching a show, they’re experiencing a memory.

You’re sharing the stage with two other Grammy-nominated powerhouses. What kind of creative chemistry have you found with Tamar Braxton and Ro James?

It’s real soulful synergy. Tamar brings that fire, Ro brings the edge, and I come through with that velvet. We each got our own flavor, but when it blends—it’s magic. There’s a mutual respect that lets us all shine and lift each other up.

The name of the tour alone—“Calling All Lovers”—feels like a mood. How does love inspire your music and stage presence?

Love is everything I sing about—it’s the heartbeat of my music. On stage, I channel every emotion love can bring: joy, pain, longing, passion. If you’ve ever been in love—or out of it—you’re gonna feel that in every note.

This tour is being produced by the Black Promoters Collective. What does it mean to you to be part of a movement that uplifts both artists and communities?

It’s powerful. To be supported by a team that looks like us, that believes in the culture, and puts community first—it’s more than business, it’s a legacy. I’m proud to be part of that evolution.

Finally, for fans who’ve never seen you live before, what’s the one thing you hope they walk away feeling after a night on The October Nights Tour?

I want them to leave feeling like they just fell in love—with the music, with the moment, maybe even with themselves. I want it to be a night that lingers in their soul, long after the lights go down.
