New York Liberty and Brooklyn Public Library Launch Special Edition Library Card, Celebrate Literacy and Community

The New York Liberty and Brooklyn Public Library are teaming up to launch 100,000 special edition library cards featuring the 2024 WNBA Champions and beloved mascot Ellie the Elephant. The collaboration celebrates both organizations’ shared commitment to literacy and community, aligning with Brooklyn Public Library’s extensive summer reading programs.

The partnership will be spotlighted at Ellie’s Birthday celebration during the Liberty game on Sunday, June 1 at Barclays Center. Fans will enjoy book-themed activations, including a BPL bookmobile offering on-site book lending, photo booths, and Ellie-themed bookmarks linked to a curated reading list. Highlights from Ellie’s list include Lola Joins the Team by Keka Novales, Remember Us by Jacqueline Woodson, and Elephants Living Large by Jason Viola.

Starting Monday, June 2, fans can pick up the Liberty-themed library cards at any Boston Public Library (BPL) branch.

In honor of the Liberty’s dedication to promoting literacy and community engagement, CEO Keia Clarke will accept the 2025 Brooklyn Public Library Gala Award at BPL’s annual Gala on June 11.
