Cuba Gooding Jr. Breaks Silence on Diddy: “Like I said, I pray for the brother”

Sometimes you don’t have to comment on everything and everybody. But Cuba Gooding Jr. has something to say. The Oscar winner is choosing compassion over condemnation as the legal firestorm surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs continues to unfold. While many in the public eye have stayed silent, Gooding shared his thoughts during a recent encounter at LAX, where he spoke briefly with our friends at TMZ about the ongoing controversy and court proceedings involving the music mogul.

As you know, with Diddy headlines dominated by reports of multiple assault allegations and an intensifying federal investigation, Gooding acknowledged the heavy atmosphere surrounding the situation. “You turn your TV on, and see it everywhere,” he said, adding that he has been closely following the developments.

Still, rather than taking sides or speculating, the Oscar-winning actor emphasized the power of prayer and empathy.

“Like I said, I pray for the brother, and I pray for the victims, and I pray for Cassie and her family,” Gooding said. “That’s all I can do from a bystander’s point of view.”

When asked if he felt any sympathy for Diddy, the music executive facing increasing legal pressure and public scrutiny, Gooding responded with careful honesty. Drawing on scripture to explain his stance, he acknowledged that while it may be hard to feel sympathy under the current spotlight, no one is above mistakes.

“You know, it’s hard to, but yeah, I feel sympathy,” he said. “They say he, without sin, cast the first stone. I don’t judge anybody.”

That part.

Gooding’s comments carry added weight considering his own name appeared in the 2023 lawsuit filed by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones. Though he was eventually removed as a defendant, the actor has spoken publicly about the case, casting doubt on the plaintiff’s motives.

Appearing on the PBD Podcast in May, Gooding called the lawsuit “an alleged cash grab,” expressing skepticism about the broader allegations.

“This guy who’s suing him [is] going after the money, man,” he alleged. “I’m sure, and by the way, I don’t know P. Diddy’s life. I don’t know what he’s going through […] We were acquaintances, just like I just showed you. Two three times I’ve seen him.”

Well, there you have it.
