Jury Reaches Partial Verdict in Diddy Trial, Deadlocks on Racketeering Count

Jurors in the federal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs have reached a verdict on four out of five counts but remain deadlocked on Count 1, the racketeering conspiracy charge.

The charges stem from accusations brought by two individuals, including singer Cassie Ventura and another woman referred to as “Jane.” The jury has rendered decisions on Counts 2 through 5, which involve sex trafficking and transportation related to both victims and commercial sex workers. Count 1, which remains unresolved, carries the most severe potential penalty: a maximum sentence of life in prison.

According to CNN, Combs, seated in the courtroom surrounded by his legal team, watched as his attorney Marc Agnifilo received a handwritten note from the jury, indicating the split verdict. Both the prosecution and defense have requested that the judge encourage the jury to continue deliberations, although they disagree on the tone and method.

The prosecution is requesting a modified Allen charge, a judicial instruction meant to urge jurors to reconsider their positions in the interest of reaching a consensus. The defense argues that it is premature to apply such pressure and prefers more neutral guidance from the bench.

The judge told the jury, “I received your note that you have reached verdicts on count 2-5 but not on count 1. I ask at this time that you keep deliberating.”

Further developments are expected as the jury continues its deliberations.
