A leaked Young Thug verse, reportedly recorded for Lil Baby’s upcoming album The Leak$, has ignited heated discussions across socials. The snippet, which emerged late Monday night, includes lines that many interpreted as suggesting Yak Gotti cooperated with authorities during the high-profile YSL RICO trial. In the leaked bars, Young Thug raps, “Yak Gotti tricked me for some years I ain’t know he was telling / Only reason I fw’d with you Gunna, it was cause of Troup.”
Yak Gotti’s lawyer, Douglas Weinstein, quickly stepped in to address the speculation, posting his response on X. “Yak did not make any incriminating statements about Jeff during his police interviews. I’m unsure about the source of this allegation. Yak had the opportunity to testify against Jeff during the trial for a reduced sentence, yet he chose not to. He remained steadfast and confronted the jury,” Weinstein wrote.
Continuing his public defense, Weinstein reaffirmed his support for his client, saying, “I will always back him, no matter who pursues DK, be it the streets, law enforcement, or the DA. Even if he may not desire it.” He also addressed Gunna directly, adding, “I have never criticized Gunna. In fact, I have defended him whenever possible. The prosecution aims to turn the individuals against each other. Don’t be misled. Don’t be naive.”
The disputed verse is part of Lil Baby’s highly anticipated The Leak$, set to drop August 15, just one week after Gunna released his latest project The Last Wun. In a livestream conversation with PlaqueBoyMax, Lil Baby revealed how the album came together. “Definitely, project dropping soon,” he said. “I just took a few songs that were already leaked and constructed an entire album from them. Most leaks aren’t the final versions anyway, but since people already have them, we’re proceeding with it. I’m actually releasing two albums, though, another one will come out about four weeks later, something like that. I wasn’t initially planning to release this one.”
