Stephen Curry Collabs with Google Across Cutting Edge Tech

Stephen Curry and AI, who would have thunk it. The 4-time NBA champ has taken his talents beyond the hardwood, stepping into a brand new lane with Google. Stephen Curry is now officially Google’s new Performance Advisor, a role that connects his years of elite athletic experience with cutting-edge technology across Google Health, Google Pixel and Google Cloud.

Curry will lend his insight to “help us fine-tune our products, train our algorithms and even design future hardware and features.” Curry and his team have already begun collaborating with health specialists, product developers and AI engineers to test innovations, share training philosophies, and provide feedback that could shape the future of sports tech.

Get this, having fully switched to the Pixel lineup, Curry is also working with AI-powered insights from Google Cloud to elevate his own game. The tools are being used to “analyze his shot quality, sharpen his workout strategy and continue to develop as a player.” A highlight of this partnership is the AI Basketball Coach, which uses Gemini models on Vertex AI and MediaPipe to create personalized coaching tips for players.

What’s interesting is how these new tools were showcased in real time last week at Curry Camp, his annual three-day training event that brings together 30 of the nation’s top student athletes. The camp featured hands-on sessions where the MVP not only guided young talent but also demonstrated how Google’s AI can be applied to performance training.

As you can imagine, Google leadership is celebrating the move. Rishi Chandra, GM and VP of Health, said, “As a long-time Warriors fan, I’ve watched Stephen Curry’s exceptionality on the court. To now partner with him and infuse that same level of excellence into our product is a game-changer for Google and, even more importantly, for our users.”

Sarah Kennedy, VP of Marketing for Google Cloud, added, “This is a pivotal moment for sports and technology. Through our partnership with Stephen Curry, we’re bringing the power of AI with Google Cloud to enhance his performance on the court, in business and in his work with the community including Curry Camp. Tools like the AI Basketball Coach, powered by Gemini, are practical innovations that are redefining how athletes approach training, performance and recovery. We’re not just supporting today’s pros, we’re building the future of athletic training for the next generation of athletes.”
