Doja Cat Talks Love Bombing and Therapy on Upcoming Album ‘Vie’

Rapper and singer Doja Cat sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for a candid discussion about her upcoming fifth studio album Vie. The project, she explained, draws inspiration from her personal relationships, therapy, and her evolving perspective on love and self-awareness.

Speaking on one of the album’s recurring themes, Doja revealed that love bombing played a significant role in shaping her lyrics. “There’s other things outside of myself that were inspiring me to write about these things. I had been in relationships that made me think about things in a different way, and I think naivety is a big part of this album too,” she said. “I speak about rushing and love bombing in a way. That’s kind of a big one. I think that’s a fun subject to sing about.”

Defining the term, she explained, “Sometimes people don’t know that they’re doing it or they do, but giving excessive compliments and gifts right off the bat, that sort of thing. I thought that was a really fun thing to write about.”

Beyond relationships, Doja emphasized how therapy has deeply influenced Vie. “This album really grew from my sessions in therapy and being so gung-ho on being there twice a week and doing it and learning about the human experience and how our brains function subconsciously and consciously,” she said.

With Vie, Doja Cat is shaping an album that blends raw honesty with artistic experimentation, offering fans a deeply personal window into her growth both on and off the mic.
