Drake Calls For Tory Lanez’s Release While Calling Rob Markman a ‘Goof’

On Sunday, August 24, Drizzy dropped into the replies on socials to show his support for his fellow Toronto brother, Tory Lanez, but this time he found time to take a dig at one particular target. Get this, the comment from the 6God was under a resurfaced Genius interview post from 2019 that featured Lanez reciting bars from Lil Wayne’s Dedication 2 classic “Cannon” alongside journalist and Genius content exec, Rob Markman.

Drake calls Rob Markman a goof for not knowing any bars off the legendary song “Cannon” by Lil Wayne. And Tory sung it right to his face.. 😭 so I AGREE!. we’re making the wrong people famous in Hip Hop Media. Time for a sweep 🧹 #viral #trending #hiphop #funny #foryou #rap #interview #torylanez #drake #explore #rapper #legend #fyp #goat #viralvideo #explorepage #foryoupage

Drake decided to use the moment to make his stance clear, writing:

“Of course this goof Markman couldn’t finish the bar… Free Tory.”

Markman, clearly took issue with being called a ‘Goof’ and wasted no time clapping back on X, sliding in a reference to Drake’s ongoing issues with Universal Music Group. Reportedly one post read “I could call him names too But you know he love to sue,” he allegedly posted, flipping the narrative back onto the OVO star.

Interesting. Drake isn’t historically litigious, which would be someone who loves to sue. Drake’s lawsuit has been made clear in numerous filings and motions it derives from his claim that UMG attempted to devalue him during contract negotiations by amplifying a vicious lie, hence defaming him based on the song Not Like Us, performed by Kendrick Lamar. That is the stance of Drake, his attorneys and in so many words is outlined in his sprawling lawsuit that is seeking unspecified damages.

We are not aware of any other lawsuits from Drake. So we can not verify if he loves to sue.

Anywho, this isn’t the first time Drake and Markman have crossed paths in public. Back in 2019, while chiming in on Joe Budden’s Instagram Live, Drake urged Budden to pull up his stash of diss records. He specifically called for Pusha T’s “The Story of Adidon,” saying, “Yo play your diss songs for me right now I want to see if they ring off. Play story of adidon right now and see if it rings off I promise the only person that’s gonna know the words is Rob Markman.”

But wait Markman then took it further and posted a whole 15 min video on YouTube, in part discussing the one liner from Drake. The video caption was entitled ‘Drake Vs Rob Markman: Know Yourself, That’s The Lesson’

15 minutes. Fed to his 46K subs. The post has 40K views.

That part.
