Devon Walker Confirms Exit From SNL, Calls Experience “Toxic As Hell”

Devon Walker is officially leaving Saturday Night Live after three seasons and opened up about his complicated experience on the long-running NBC sketch show.

According to Variety, Walker, who first joined SNL as a featured player in Season 48 before becoming a full-time cast member for Seasons 49 and 50, revealed the news in a post on the Gram Monday. He shared a carousel of photos, including a screenshot of a document cheekily titled “wait..did he quit or did he get fired?” where he described the industry as a series of “little marriages.”

“Some of em last for a long time if we’re lucky, but most of them are fleeting. Permanent until they’re not. That’s the deal. You know what it is it when you sign up,” Walker wrote.

Reflecting on his time at SNL, he admitted it was far from simple. “Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But we did what we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f**ked up lil family,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Walker expressed gratitude for the chance to work at 30 Rock alongside the SNL writers and his Dad comedy show co-hosts Alex English and Gary Richardson. “It’s a beautiful thing,” he added.

Looking ahead, Walker teased what’s next for him. “Anyway, I’m bout to go to Japan. When I get back I’m tryna be in a prestige drama. Ideally something with Julianne Moore. Hope y’all staying hydrated and getting some money today,” he wrote.

Along with his message, Walker posted behind-the-scenes snapshots, a screenshot of him texting “I’m out” with a partying face emoji, and a meme of Joe Biden appearing to stumble on a staircase in the rain. He captioned the collection simply: “Me and baby broke up.”
