Football season has arrived, and State Farm is back with a fresh campaign that blends sports, pop culture, and humor. Building on the success of last year’s Bateman v. Batman commercial, the new ads reinforce one message: having insurance is not the same as having State Farm.
The “Captain” spot stars Detroit Lions defensive end and 2024 team captain Aidan Hutchinson. The ad humorously contrasts a sea captain with Hutchinson as Detroit’s football captain. “It’s my second year with State Farm, and this time we had a lot of fun playing with the idea of a sea captain versus a football captain. In the spot, I get to embody what State Farm is all about: being the real deal – who’s got your back when it counts. It’s a reminder that having insurance isn’t the same as having State Farm,” Hutchinson shared.
The campaign also features Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry, and Hutchinson, alongside new faces such as Chiefs Pro Bowl guard Trey Smith and Grammy-winning artist Meghan Trainor. Trainor’s “Trainor v. Trainer” spot has already debuted, highlighting the brand’s playful take on everyday scenarios. Jake from State Farm also returns as the campaign’s familiar face.
“As football season kicks off, we are excited to work with talent that live at the intersection of sports and culture,” said Alyson Griffin, State Farm Head of Marketing. “Meghan Trainor’s energy, humor, and broad appeal make her the perfect fit for our campaign. We are delivering a straightforward but lasting message that having insurance is not the same as having State Farm.”
