Lil Wayne Salutes Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce On Their Engagement During Kansas City Show

Lil Wayne, and most of the world for that matter, is showing love to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce after news of their engagement shook both the sports and music worlds. While performing in Kansas City, home of Kelce’s Chiefs, Weezy took a moment to give the couple a shoutout.

Rocking a cardigan as a nod to Swift, Wayne told the crowd, “I’m dressed in spirit. In the spirit of my man Travis and my girl, you already know Taylor. Traylor! That’s what we call them. Congratulations.”

Get this, the New Orleans icon’s comments come not long after he shared his thoughts about the Super Bowl halftime stage. Wayne admitted that he no longer has interest in chasing the opportunity after being overlooked for a show in his hometown of New Orleans earlier this year. “Every time I looked, it was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on,” he explained. Speaking on Kendrick Lamar’s recent halftime performance, he added, “They stole that feeling. I don’t want to do it. It was perfect.”

Wayne also revealed that for years he felt like the NFL was hinting he would eventually get the call, encouraging him to appear more publicly to prepare for it.

“To perform, it’s a bunch of things they’re going to tell you to do and not do, asses to kiss and not kiss,” he said. “If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing shit with Tom Brady. That was all for that. You ain’t never seen me in them types of venues. I ain’t Drake. I ain’t out there smiling like that everywhere. I’m in the stu’, smokin’ and recording.”

That part.

After being passed over again, Wayne says the NFL dismissed his frustration, telling him, “We ain’t in charge [of the Super Bowl halftime show].” His takeaway was simple: “All of a sudden, according to them, they got curved. So, I’m going to have to just settle with whatever they say.”

That other part.
