A 22 year old college athlete has been charged with five counts of recklessly risking infection of another with HIV.
The man, Michael Johnson, is a former wrestler for Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. Prosecutors believe that he may have infected dozens of unsuspecting young men after going through some 32 sex tapes found on Johnson’s laptop.
The tapes show Johnson having unprotected sex with various men; most appear to be in filmed in his dorm room, and his sex partners don’t seem to realize they’re on tape.
Authorities haven’t yet identified all of Johnson’s sexual partners; at this time, they’ve only identified one of dozens. Police believe that many of the men may have met Johnson on social media sites, like Twitter and Facebook, as well as on campus.
Officials are asking anyone who may have had intimate relations with Johnson, or has any info, to contact the St. Charles Detective Bureau at 636-949-3330.
“It’s a matter not only of their individual safety, but public safety as well,” says St. Charles County’s Prosecutor Tim Lomar.
