Scores and performances from around the NBA last night.
Rockets 107, Timberwolves 89
The Houston Rockets are continuing to build their resume as a legit threat in the west. The Timberwolves are no pushover but they were beaten handily by the Rocket last night in Minnesota. Dwight Howard finished the game with 18 points and 15 rebounds, leading the Rockets to their sixth straight win. Kevin Love put up 31 points and 10 rebounds 1n the loss. Love leads the league in double-doubles with 42.
The Rockets improve to 35-17 and the Timberwolves drop to 24-28.
Pistons 109, Spurs 100
The Detroit Pistons picked up an impressive win last night at home vs the San Antonio Spurs. Brandon Jennings led the way with 21 points and six assists and Rodney Stuckey put up 20 points in the win. Marco Bellineli led the way for the Spurs with 20 points.
This was John Loyer’s first game as interim coach. The Pistons fired coach Maurice Cheeks on Sunday after only 50 games as the head coach.
The Pistons improve to 22-29 and the Spurs fall to 37-15.
Pacers 119, Nuggets 80
The Indiana Pacers are an NBA best 25-2 at home and the Denver Nuggets were blown out last night in Indiana. David West led the way for the Pacers with 25 points. Wilson Chandler scored 17 points as the Nuggets had a tough task in Indy without the injured Ty Lawson (broken rib), Nate Robinson (sprained knee), Danino Gallinari (knee), and Javale McGee (leg).
The Pacers improve to 40-11 and the Nuggets drop to 24-26.
Warriors 123, Sixers 80
After coming off of a ridiculous 123-78 blowout at the Los Angeles Clippers, the Sixers’ bad basketball continued in Golden State with another rout last night. This is only the second time in NBA history that a team has lost by 40 points in consecutive games, and they have lost seven straight.
Maurice Speights scored a career-high 32 points for the Warriros against his former team. Michael Carter-Williams led the Sixers with 24 points.
The Warriors improve to 31-21 and the Sixers fall to 15-38.
Raptors 108, Pelicans 101
The Toronto Raptors got a much needed home win vs the New Orleans Pelicans. Kyle Lowry had 19 points and 12 assists to lead the Raptors to victory, and Patrick Patterson put up 22 points. Tyreke Evans led the Pelicans with 23 points and 10 assists.
The Raptors improve to 27-24 and the Pelicans drop to 22-29.
Celtics 102, Bucks 86
Bucks fans haven’t had much to cheer about this season and last night was another disappointing home loss for the Milwaukee squad. Jeff Green scored a game-high 29 points for the Celtics. Brandon Knight led the way for the Bucks with 22 points.
The Celtics improve to 19-34 and the Bucks fall to an NBA worst 9-42.
