Sunday night in Kiev, Ukraine the Spanish national soccer (football) team made history, for the first time ever a team has won a Euro Cup tournament, the following World Cup, and then the following Euro Cup. This triple-crown of soccer has been a work in progress in the years of 2008,2010, and today July 1st, 2012. Spain took a 2-0 lead at half behind goals from David Silva and Jordi Alba, then the whole second half was cruise control. In the second half of play substitutes Fernando Torres and Juan Mata poured in goals as well giving Spain the title and the biggest scoreline in finals history, 4-0. Spain’s superb passing and possesion of the ball (57%-43%) just overwhelmed the Italian side. Congratulations to the Spanish fans, and a tip of the hat to the Italian side and fans as well for a great tournament. European international football picks up with World Cup qualifying in September.
