If Ramis’ Groundhog Day was brought to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Lurkavelli would be all too familiar with the feeling. The 23 year old sounds like he’s both defeated and motivated by the vicious cycle of life in his neighborhood, similar to a general fighting the same battles over and over again to no avail. But he stays dead set on raising his crew above their situation. Between his verses, Lurkavelli gives you a taste of the behavior you may be subjected to if you cross him. Just because he’s eating, doesn’t mean he won’t take what’s yours, too. On top of that, the hypnotizing production from Nico Fazio matches the impending fear created by the droogs gallivanting in Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange.
Shout out the Big Tymers/Hot Boys one time, after hearing that second verse.
“Everything’s Still The Same” comes as the firs single off Lurkavelli’s upcoming seven track EP, Last Call.
