This year with The Source Magazine‘s owner L. Londell McMillan and the help of The Source’s female staff, HERSource was born, a place for women in hip-hop where they can enjoy their love of the culture from a lady’s point of view. To celebrate the inauguration of the HERSource brand, several events took place at SOURCE360 in September that were arguably the best events of that weekend. First up? The HERSource Beauty Bar at Milk River.
Just a few blocks away from the Barclays Center stands Milk River, an eatery and lounge in Downtown Brooklyn that has become a highly favored place to hang out in the last few months. During the weekend of SOURCE360 the restaurant was transformed into the HERSource Beauty Bar, a place where women could go to enjoy free makeovers, free drinks, and tons of free goodies. Gift bags from Miss Jessies were in large abundance as people stood in lines and chatted with one another, sipping mixed drinks while getting henna tattoos with both old and new faces. To say the event was a complete success would be an understatement, especially when a certain reality couple came through to parlay with the other guests. Love & Hip-Hop New York star Yandy Smith came through with her fiancé Mendeecees, taking part in the fun-filled photoshoot complete with props and a backdrop.
