Well, this is awkward
91-year old Janina Kolkiewicz isn’t ready to go yet. She made that quite clear after she was declared dead on November 6th, and woke up in her body bag 11 hours later. According to the family doctor, whose ratings just went way down in Declaration of Death 2K15, he checked several parts of Kolkiewicz body for a pulse, and was futile in each attempt.
I checked the pulse on the forearm artery, carotid artery also. I listened to the heart, to the breathing. I also examined the pupils. There were no reflexes. Typical symptoms of death.
Well, doc, Janina fooled you. Afterwards, the doctor signed the death certificate and sent the body to a funeral home in eastern Poland, and 11 hours later, funeral home staff phoned the family after being alarmed by movement in Kolkiewicz body bag as it sat in storage.
Here’s the kicker. After the bizarre discovery, funeral staff sent Kolkiewicz back home to her presumably elated family, where she warmed herself up and had dinner. Talk about cheating death. Congrats, Janina.
