At approximately 9:30 pm EST Monday evening, the St. Louis County Prosecutor announced that Darren Wilson would not be charged for fatally shooting Michael Brown, and as expected, protests began nationwide. From Seattle, where Macklemore marched with agitated residents, to New York City, where Q-Tip joined protesters in Times Square, there were marches and protests in nearly every major American city, most of which were nonviolent and peaceful. Last night, people continued to take to the streets to express their discontent with not just Bob McCulloch and the St. Louis grand jury that decided there wasn’t enough evidence to bring Wilson to trial, but the American justice system that has continued to let such tragedies go unpunished, and unjustified.

Last night, major freeways, bridges and tunnels were overtaken by peaceful protests, including the FDR, the Lincoln Tunnel, and the West Side Highway as part of protesters’ #SHUTITDOWN campaign.
